Communities Over Cages Campaign
Women on the Rise & the Racial Justice Action Center are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Alliance Builder for our Atlanta-based Community Over Cages Campaign to divest from jails and invest in our community!
WHO WE ARE
Women on the Rise is a policy advocacy organization led by women targeted and/or impacted by the criminal “justice” system. Women on the Rise is a project of the Racial Justice Action Center and works to educate, heal, and empower our communities to demand justice, dignity, and liberation for all.
Communities Over Cages is a local campaign dedicated to divesting from Atlanta’s criminal justice system and investing in community safety by reallocating the $32.6 million spent annually to operate systems that criminalize our communities.
The full time Alliance Builder will be in charge of building and facilitating a multiracial, multi-issue, multi-organizational alliance to support the campaign’s efforts and build a shared vision for community safety and justice. The Alliance Builder will be an integral part of the Communities Over Cages Campaign Team, will report to Women on the Rise’s Director, and will work closely with all WoR Staff, Harriet’s Daughters (our formerly incarcerated women leadership body), and RJAC’s director.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse organizations and communities
Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate collective/collaborative spaces and formations
Team oriented and highly accountable to the campaign and the community
A passion for divesting from jails and the criminal legal system and shifting resources to community-based supports and services
Knowledge of Atlanta’s organizations and faith-based institutions
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Salary: $40,000 to $45,000 based on experience – Benefit package included
